June 14, 2018, 18.00 – 20.00

Seminar Room 1, The George Moore Building, Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow

A Citizen's Basic Income (CBI) is a regular and unconditional sum of money paid to citizens from the government, representing a radical reform of the social security system. CBI trials are currently being planned in Scotland - funded by the Scottish Government and taking place in 4 local authorities (Glasgow, Fife, North Ayrshire and Edinburgh).

CBI has the potential to be a tool to move us towards gender equality, but it also poses the threat of entrenching inequality if it is not designed to advance women’s economic autonomy.

This meeting of the Scottish Women's Budget Group will be exploring the feminist arguments for and against CBI, agreeing key priorities for gendering the discourse around CBI, and planning for the year ahead.

Open to all SWBG members. If you want to join the meeting remotely, you can do so here. If you have any access needs or there is anything we can do to make it easier for you to attend, please let us know in the 'special requirements' box when you book.
