The theme for our AGM this year is 'Gender Budgeting in challenging times'.

This will be a hybrid event, so there is an option to join in-person at our co-working offices in Glasgow or online via Zoom. You will pick your preferred option when registering for your ticket. Please register for your ticket here: AGM (Hybrid) Tickets, Tue 8 Nov 2022 at 17:00 | Eventbrite. Further details about the in-person event and distribution of the Zoom link will be sent out soon.

We are delighted to announce our guest speaker, Yelda Yucel, who is an Associate Professor of Economics at Istanbul Bilgi University. Yelda has publications in national and international journals and books on economics crises, labour markets, gender economics and gender responsive budgeting. Among many of their achievements, Yelda took part in the preparation of the “Gender and Economics” course for the UN Women and has been an instructor of the course since 2017. Currently, Yelda is a member of Feminist Academicians and Researchers working on women’s labor (KEFA) in Turkey, International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE) and European Gender Budgeting Network (EGBN). Yelda will primarily be discussing experiences from Turkey in terms of what is working well and what challenges are faced to bring gender analysis into economic and finance processes as well as lessons we can learn.

The AGM business that will follow will then include a presentation of our annual report and vote on the Board of SWBG. Voting is for SWBG members only, if you’re not a member but would like to have a say in our governance then join us: https://www.swbg.org.uk/content/membership/

You can see information about our current Trustees on our website: https://www.swbg.org.uk/content/about-staff/

If you want to find out more about what being on the Board involves, the type of work you get involved in please contact me – sara.cowan@swbg.org.uk by 3rd November and we can arrange a follow up discussion.
