Local Government, social care and unpaid carers

March 15, 2022, 12.00

Online

In the run up to the 2022 Scottish Local Government elections the Scottish Women's Budget Group are holding a number of focused events to views from women across Scotland on public spending priorities. The third in this series of events will focus on what women's priorities in relation to social care and how local government can help achieve these.

Participants will hear from Rob Gowans of the Health and Social Care Alliance on priorities that have been highlighted through their work with service users and providers, Shubhanna Hussain-Ahmed of the Carers Coalition Scotland will share views on the needs of unpaid carers and how public spending/access to services can support unpaid carers in their roles. We hoped to be joined by a GMB Care rep to share the views of paid care workers. Then there will be the opportunity to share their thoughts on what local governments priorities should be.
