Let’s talk about tax!

Let’s talk about tax!

January 28, 2026, 18.30 – 20.00

Online

Interactive discussion on all things tax, its purpose and what a fair tax system would look like at both national and local levels.

Tax is everywhere. We hear about rises and cuts all the time, yet decisions about tax can feel confusing, opaque, and disconnected from our everyday lives. It’s often unclear how these decisions are made, what our taxes actually fund, and how tax policy can affect women’s equality.

Do you have strong feelings about tax? Curious about how it works, or frustrated by how it doesn’t?

Join us on 28 January for an interactive discussion on all things tax, with a special focus on Council Tax. Together, we’ll explore:

  • What the purpose of tax really is
  • What a fair tax system could look like at both national and local levels
  • How tax policy impacts women, and what a tax system that works for women might look like, particularly in relation to Council Tax

Your views and experiences will directly inform our response to the Scottish Government’s consultation on Council Tax, so this is a real opportunity to shape policy.

No prior knowledge of the tax system is needed—just bring your curiosity and your perspective.
